Tattoo’s ,
I have been fascinated with tattoos forever. I
had dreamt of getting inked but I never understood why people get a tattoo in the first place, I
could not imagine a person sitting down on a chair, for hours together and then
the needle is dipped in the dye and then on your skin. I could not bear to
think of the pain the person might go through all the time. When my neighbor
got her wrist tattooed on her trip to goa, it was something i expected of her.
I was totally amazed to see her tattoo. I loved it.
I asked her
about the pain she felt, she was happy about it. Well later after sometime I
felt her pain myself when I went in for my own tattoo. The most difficult part
was thinking what I should ink it at first, but my decision was simple as I
knew what I wanted on my skin. Then I had decided that I would get a tattoo
done and my friend took me to a tattoo parlor owned by her friend. She was the
one who had supported me all the while. At the tattoo parlor I was very nervous,
well more than nervous than anxious. Before putting a piece of paper that had
an outline of the tattoo, my tattoo artist asked me why I wanted a tattoo done
and unless I give an convincing answer he said he would not ink me because it’s
going to be permanent, and I should not regret it at any point. He was very
clear. I did not want answer him but I said that it means a lot to me and he refused to tattoo me.
Then I had to tell him my answer and without asking me anymore he put the paper
down on my skin, on the feet.
The pain of
the needle poking my skin was horrible and I had turned red and I was flushing badly.
But I must say my tattoo artist kept on talking for more than two and half hour
and that made me forget my pain and I went numb gradually. I am usually numb
all the time now. Nothing hurts me anymore to an extent of crying. So it was
bearable. I got a tattoo of two, baby feet on my own feet. I don’t regret my
decision of being inked. I was happy for what I have done. Many could not understand
but it does not matter. People won’t understand you all the time, so I know how
to deal with it.
My
mom, and my family was pretty ok! … it
was expected of me they say. No one objected apart from my aunt’s a little, but
eventually they calmed down. Because nothing can be done now. They spoke of the
religion and all but that does not matter. I must say I come from an open
family where they are open to change otherwise they would have taunted me to
death.
Usually
it’s said that tattoo says their own story, it depicts the story of the event
or incident that happens in a person’s life. It’s a kind of journal, and very
well said by Johnny Depp a famous actor. But according to me it has an
emotional appeal and describes how I feel and something that I would not like
to forget, and since my tattoo is well done it adds more of it. Many would not
agree but I do not care. And now I know why people get a tattoo done. Because
it reflects their life and its easy to read and know about that person and his
life and suffering and his happiness, or whatever he had gone through.
I
am proud that I got inked and I do not regret my decision. If I must quote
something by Richard Jeni “I always look for a woman who has a tattoo. I see a woman with a tattoo, and I'm thinking,
okay, here's a gal who's capable of making a decision she'll regret in the
future.” .. Well future is untold, no one knows what will happen and I don’t
know if I would live to see the future or not, so for now I live in present and
I do not regret.
